ITALIAN DESIGN SEMESTER

Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy

Santa Chiara Study Center, located in a small village in Tuscany, was the home to art and architecture students for a semester abroad from Texas A&M University, Kansas State University, and Colorado State University. Courses included architectural history, architectural design studio, and Italian language. Organized trips to Milan, Venice, Florence, Assisi, and Rome supplemented weekly course work at the study center. The nearby Val di Chiana was the source of local inspiration for studio projects and photography while independent travels throughout Italy and to nearby France, Switzerland, and Germany exposed students to noteworthy historic and contemporary architecture. This collection of sketches comes from my design sketchbook and studio assignments while studying abroad.
